Essential Life Skills
Over a year long project we worked with selected primary school aged children in Scarborough, setting them three live design briefs for real clients.
These children took on the role of professional designers, meeting tight deadlines to deliver and pitch each design to their clients.
The Design Briefs
The brief: DESIGN A CULTURAL TOUR
The client: CHILDREN’S UNIVERSITY SCARBOROUGH
The pupils were set the brief of designing a map and tour of creative places to see in Scarborough. The tour needed to inspire Children’s University members to visit places in their own time, in order to gain passport stamps.
THE BRIEF: DESIGN A ‘POP UP’ MUSEUM
THE CLIENT: DINOSTAR MUSEUM, HULL
Working with Dinostar owner Steve Plater, the young designers were briefed and set the task of creating their very own Dinosaur Exhibition, one that would be worthy enough for Dinostar Steve to come back and visit!
THE BRIEF: DESIGN A DIVERSITY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
THE CLIENT: North Yorkshire COUNCIL
The young designers were tasked with creating a marketing campaign and a series of supporting images to promote the topic of ‘Diversity’. These were displayed at a final exhibition of their work at Woodend Gallery, Scarborough.
