Research into the work of an artist or designer.
Create a summary in any format so that other people can learn about the person you have chosen to research

Stage 1: Think of someone creative who inspires you
They might be famous, or it might be somebody you know.
Do some research in your own style about the work they do, their career, and anything else you can find out about their life.
You could explore:
What kind of art or design they make
What inspired them to start creating
Where they’ve shown or shared their work
Any challenges they’ve faced, or any great successes
How they’ve developed their skills
Here are some ways to research
Watch a YouTube video
Look for interviews or short films that show their work and how they made it.
Visit their website
Many artists have websites with photos, background info, and blog posts.
Read a book or magazine
Check your school or local library for books about artists or designers.
Ask someone
A teacher, family member, or local artist might know more about them.

Rebecca Shipham
Rebecca is a creative exhibition designer who runs her own company called Ships & Pigs in Hull, England
What Does She Do?
She designs exhibition stands - these are big displays for places like trade shows and events.
Clients include big brands like Amazon, Sony, TikTok, NHS, and Bella & Duke
She turns ideas into full-colour 3D models and detailed plans.
Why She’s Inspiring
She won Freelancer of the Year twice for her independent work
She started her own business after losing her job in London in 2007.
How She Started & How She Works
Rebecca trained in Exhibition Design at university.
She uses both traditional sketches and modern computer software to create and refine designs.
Rebecca shows how creative skills can become a full-time job.

Think about what makes them stand out to you.
(C3). How did you research their arts practice, career, life and work?
Tell us how you found out about them.
Did you read a book or magazine article, or look at their website,
Did you watch a video or documentary, or maybe go to an exhibition or show?
Did you meet them in person or contact them online?
(C4). What did you learn about them?
Tell us what you discovered. You might have found out things like:
How they got started
What inspired them
How they developed their skills
What their daily work is like
Any struggles they had or big successes
(C5). What do you think of their work?
Tell us your opinion. Do you like it? Why or why not?
What do you think is interesting, exciting, or different about it?
How does it make you feel?
(C6) Create something that will help other people learn about the person you have researched
You might make a poster, or a short video about them, or you might make a mood board of facts and images. It’s entirely up to you!
Make sure it includes information that will help other people learn who your chosen person is, and any of the things you have learnt about them and their work.
